BNN Destroys 1 Ton Of Drug Barbuk, Including 757 Kg Of Marijuana

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) destroyed 1 ton of drugs. The drugs are evidence, aka barbuk, which was secured in the period 14-25 February 2023.

Deputy for BNN Eradication Brigadier General Pol I Wayan Sugiri detailed that the drugs consisted of 356.622 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 757.763 kg of marijuana. The destruction was carried out at the BNN Parking Field, East Jakarta, Tuesday, March 28.

"As for the narcotics evidence that was destroyed today, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in the form of narcotics class I weighing 1.1 tons as followed by methamphetamine weighing 356,622.10 grams and marijuana weighing 757,763.00 grams," he said at a press conference, confiscated by Antara.

"The destruction of marijuana and methamphetamine is the result of four narcotics case reports (LKN) involving a network of narcotics syndicates, both national and international with 15 suspects," he explained.

The first case is related to the national network. BNN arrested three suspects in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, after receiving information about the circulation of marijuana from Aceh to Medan. From this case, evidence was obtained in the form of 27 sacks containing 733 packs of marijuana with a gross weight of 758.49 kg.

For the second case, it comes from an international network. BNN RI arrested eight suspects who are Iranian citizens around the Indian Ocean in the South Java Sea. This success began with the suspicion of the Joint Team of BNN, Customs and Excise, and the National Police Headquarters against the ship.

The ship suspected of being pulled to the Indah Kiat Harbor Pier, Cilegon, Banten, for inspection and search. After a search, 309 bags containing 319.53 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were found.

The third arrest was related to the international network. BNN arrested three suspects in Dumai, Riau Province. This arrest began with BNN receiving information about drug smuggling from Malaysia to Indonesia through Dumai waters. In this case, officers confiscated 37.42 kg of crystal methamphetamine.

Furthermore, the fourth case was found in a shoe package containing 22 grams of methamphetamine. From the results of the examination, the package was sent from Banjarmasin to Southeast Maluku for a person with the initials MNW who was on the wanted list (DPO).

"Through the destruction of narcotics evidence this time, BNN managed to save more than one million nation's children from potential drug abuse and illicit trafficking," said Sugiri.

Before the destruction was carried out, the BNN Team set aside evidence for laboratory examination and evidence of marijuana at trial.

Sugiri invites the public to jointly eradicate narcotics in order to create an Indonesia that is free from drugs.

"Let's eradicate narcotics to get to Indonesia to shine, clean drugs," he said.
