From Cell Phone Thieves To Server Network Breachers, All Of Them Were Arrested By South Jakarta Metro Police Ahead Of Ramadan

JAKARTA - A total of 29 criminals have been arrested by South Jakarta Metro Police officers in the framework of Operation Pekat Jaya which was held from 2-16 March 2023.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Police, Kompol Irwandhy Idrus, said that the police managed to uncover 22 cases during this victorious operation.

The types of crimes include theft with violence (curas), theft by weighting (curat), motor vehicle theft (curanmor), serious maltreatment, and emergency laws and articles related to street crimes.

"The Police, supported by the ranks of the Polsek, succeeded in uncovering 22 cases with a total of 29 suspects," Irwandhy told reporters, Tuesday, March 21.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Police Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Henrikus Yossi explained, of the 29 suspects who were arrested, four of them were recidivists in direct cases and some were active in a number of locations in South Jakarta and its surroundings.

In addition, there was also 1 suspect who was found positive for using narcotics after a urine test was carried out.

"So, there were those who stole laptops, cellphones, jewelry, and there was also the theft of hardware network servers at one of the companies, including we arrested the perpetrators who wanted to fight in Pancoran and brought sharp weapons," he said.

Regarding the mode of operation in the theft case, the perpetrators used a letter T key and forcibly broke the handlebar neck of the motorbike and then pushed the motorbike along with the other perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the modus operandi is by destroying the location of the incident, such as the door, office, and the facilities at the location where the incident is targeted by the action, which is often carried out at night in a quiet atmosphere. Then, there are also those who use the attributes of well-known electronic sites to trick their victims.

Of the 22 cases that were successfully uncovered by the police, there were no fatalities or injuries from the victims.

"Then, cases of theft of jewelry were carried out by the household member on their employers, the evidence is that the jewelry was stolen and that it was the result of a crime. Their motive for committing the crime was generally to fulfill their economy," he concluded.
