MoU Signed, Gibran Rakabuming And Hevearita Commit To Excavation Of Solo-Semarang Heritage Site

SOLO - Mayor of Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding tourism and cultural development cooperation between the Solo City Government and the Semarang City Government.

The signing of the MoU was carried out with Semarang Mayor Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu during the Dugderan procession in the courtyard of Semarang City Hall, Tuesday, March 21.

"Thank God, Dugderan is complemented by the signing of a cooperation related to tourism between the Solo City Government and the Semarang City Government," said Ita, Hevearita's nickname, in Semarang, Antara, Tuesday, March 21.

According to him, the history of Semarang City cannot be separated from the Surakarta Kesunanan Palace and the Yogyakarta Sultanate which are part of the Mataram Kingdom.

"Because the history of Semarang cannot be separated from the Sultanate (Surakarta, ed.) and the Sultanate (Ngayogyakarta, ed.), because it comes from Mataram, yes. We plan to make a 'telling story' of Solo's attachment to the city of Semarang," he said.

The collaboration that will be carried out also includes research and excavation of cultural heritage sites in Semarang and Solo.

"We will also cooperate in terms of historical research on cultural heritage sites from the cities of Semarang and Solo," he said.

Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming hopes that the culture and tourism sectors in the two big cities of Central Java will be more alive and support each other because they are connected in terms of transportation and culture.

"The hope is that cultural and tourism activities can be carried out by the Municipal Government of Solo and the Municipal Government of Semarang. There is already a toll road that connects Semarang and Solo so they are close," he said.

With this cooperation, he said there would be no more activities in the two cities with conflicting schedules so as not to confuse the public.

"Yes, the hope is for synergy, especially regarding the schedule of 'events' (activities) so that there are no collisions between Solo and Semarang," he said.
