Bawaslu Respects Legal Process Of Alleged Corruption In Election Grant Funds In Central Sulawesi

JAKARTA - Bawaslu commissioner Totok Hariyono said that his party respects the legal process for investigating suspected corruption at the Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi) Bawaslu.

"We respect the ongoing legal process," he said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 20.

This was conveyed by Totok in response to allegations of corruption at the Central Sulawesi Bawaslu regarding the management of grants for the 2020 Central Sulawesi Pilkada worth IDR 56 billion.

"We are still doing legal assistance," he said.

Totok ensured that the investigation into the case would not interfere with the current 2024 election stages.

Previously, the Head of the Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office Agus Salim stated that his party was carrying out an investigation into a suspected corruption case at the Central Sulawesi Bawaslu.

"Witnesses who have been examined are 20 to 30 people," he said.

The Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Team conducted searches at the Central Sulawesi Bawaslu Office and several regency/city Bawaslu offices. In fact, prosecutors have confiscated documents related to the case.

In addition, the Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office team conducted a search of the Central Sulawesi Bawaslu Office on 23 February 2023, the Donggala Regency Bawaslu Office (28/2), the Parigi Moutong Regency Bawaslu Office (1/3), and the Banggai Islands Bawaslu Office (13/2).
