South Jakarta Police Bans Residents Of Sweeping Mandiri And Raises Donations To Business Actors

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Irwandhy Idrus, forbade the public to conduct independent sweeps or take legal action when entering Ramadan 2023. It is known, during the holy month of Ramadan, local governments apply rules regarding the call for operating hours of business actors.

"In the holy month of Ramadan, it is often the act of taking legal action against groups whose intention is to maintain but instead intersect with the law in our country," Irwandhy said in his statement, Monday, March 20.

Irwandhy explained that he would follow up on sweeping groups that could potentially violate Article 335 of the Criminal Code and Article 170 of the Criminal Code.

Sweeping or this action can violate Article 335. It could also be subject to Article 170 of the Criminal Code. We are committed, we will take firm action if this happens, if it is in South Jakarta," he said

In addition, he will also follow up on community groups asking for donations by forcing business actors or other parties.
