Brothers And Sisters Of Amfoang NTT Residents Dragged By Floods, 1 Found Dead

KUPANG - Brothers and sisters residents of Bitobe Village, Central Amfoang District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, were dragged by the floods over the time of Bikau Saijan. One victim was reported to have died and one was found safe.

"The heavy rain that occurred for two days flushed the Central Amfoang sub-district resulted in flooding in the Bikau Saijan river. Two brothers who tried to cross the way across the Bikau Saijan river were swept away by the flood currents on Sunday afternoon," said Central Amfoang sub-district head Marsyuner Prayudin Bureni quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 20.

He said the two residents who were dragged by the floods of the Bikau Saijan river, namely Mekodorce Merciana Sobeukum (12) and his brother, Pauf Bayatris Permatasari Sobeukum (16).

The two brothers were dragged into the flood while crossing the Bikau Saijan river after returning from the garden to Bitobe Village, which was across the river.

"The two victims seemed to be desperate to cross the river which was still flooded due to high rainfall in Amfoang, the two victims who were desperate to cross but were dragged by a fairly heavy flood," said Central Amfoang Sub-district Head Marsyuner Prayudin Bureni.

Warga Desa Bitobe yang mengetahui adanya peristiwa itu langsung melakukan pencarian terhadap kedua korban dengan menggelesai kali Bikau Saijan dan berhasil menemukan korban Mekodorce Merciana Sobeukum (12).

The victim of Mekodorce Merciana Sobeukum was found by residents who were already dead.

"The victim was immediately evacuated by residents to the victim's parents' house in Bitube Village," said Central Amfoang sub-district head Marsyuner Prayudin Bureni.

Meanwhile, other residents together with the Police and the TNI and the Central Amfoang Embezzlement Government as well as the Bitobe Village government continued to search for Pauf Bayatris Permatasari Sobeukum (16) and found the victim safe about 20 meters from the location of the victim Mekodorce Merciana Sobeukum with a squeezed condition between the rocks.

According to the Head of Central Amfoang Sub-district, Marsyuner Prayudin Bureni, due to serious injuries, Pauf Bayatris Permatasari Sobeukum (16) was evacuated to Kupang City for treatment at the Prof. Dr. WZ Johanis Kupang Hospital.
