KENDARI - The Konawe Police Traffic Unit arrested a driver of an L300 box car on suspicion of being the perpetrator of a hit and run in Angalomoare, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The arrest was based on CCTV footage when the vehicle ran away after crashing into it.

Kasatlantas Polres Konawe Iptu Ridwan Koto when contacted, said that the driver of the L300 box car was named Reiner Malaka alias Ambo (35) who was an employee of PT Mayora.

"Reiner Malaka alias Ambo (30) address Wuura Village, Mowila District, South Konawe Regency (Konsel), Southeast Sulawesi," said Iptu Ridwan Koto as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 19.

The former Head of the Kendari Police Narcotics Research Unit said that after receiving information related to a hit-and-run that killed a Honda CRF motorcycle rider without a motor vehicle number (TNKB) named Ilham, his party immediately launched an investigation.

"We ask for help from members of the ranks of the police. Assisted to check places where there may be companies that have box cars, then we match them with CCTV videos," said Iptu Ridwan Koto.

Iptu Ridwan said that his party found a box car similar to the image in the CCTV video at PT Mayora. The car had abrasions on the front of his right.

"Incidentally, at PT Mayora there was a box car that had abrasions to his right, we suspect that," he explained.

To further intensively examine the case, his party took the car driver to the police post.

"In depth, to make it more intensive, we take it to the post, and there he admitted the accident," he said.

It was also said that Reiner Malaka alias Ambo, who was driving the L300 box car, has now been detained at the Konawe Police Headquarters for a valid legal process.

"He has been detained since last Friday, we are processing it according to the provisions," he said.

Kasatlantas Polres Konawe revealed that at the time of the incident the L300 box driver fled because of fear. The driver thought it was just a minor accident.

"He was scared, then he thought the accident was not fatal," he said.
