PAPUA - Trans Papua Jayapura-Wamena roads which are in a damaged condition are temporarily closed due to repairs. The closure will start today, Friday, March 17.

Head of the Wamena State Road Development Center (BPJN), Zepnat Kambu, said the closure was due to a vehicle being trapped in a mud puddle on the road yesterday.

In the area there are about 8 puddles and 10 damage points from kilometer (KM) 416 to 428 km.

As a result, 300 vehicles consisting of trucks and a double cabin destination for various regions in the Papua Mountains Province had stalled through that route.

However, Zepnat explained that around 20 vehicles were still stuck on the line because they were damaged by carrying excessive goods. "It is true that there are still 20 vehicles that cannot continue their journey due to damage," said Zepnat, quoted from Antara, Friday, March 17.

He said BPJN Wamena was making preparations to repair the road which is expected to be completed in April 2023. When asked about the vehicle that used to cross the route to return to Jayapura, Kambu admitted that trucks and a double cabin would be convoys passing from Yalimo Regency to Jayapura. Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Keerom Regency, Yalimo and Jayawijaya Regency.
