ATAMBUA - The Atambua Immigration Office strengthens monitoring supervision of foreign nationals (WNA) in Malacca Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The area is directly adjacent to Timor Leste.

Head of the Class II Immigration Office, Atambua KA Halim Immigration Checkpoint, said that surveillance of foreigners was increased to the RT/RW level to ensure that the presence of foreigners did not disturb the community as happened in Bali some time ago.

"One of the important steps to strengthen this synergy is that we do it through cross-sectoral meetings to communicate with each other and exchange information regarding the presence of foreigners in Malacca," he said, Friday, March 17, as reported by Antara.

Moreover, he continued, since the implementation of Visa-Free Visits (BVK) as of February 13, 2023, it has had an impact on increasing the flow of crossings at the National Border Post (PLBN) in Malacca.

Halim said that the supervision of foreigners is not only related to administrative matters but also includes the daily activities of these foreigners while in Indonesia.

Thus, he said, when there is an action by foreigners who disturb the community or violate the law, they are immediately dealt with in accordance with the applicable regulations.

"We also ask RT/RW to play an active role in supervising foreigners so that when problems occur, they are directly communicated to Timpora," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the National Unity and Political Agency of Malacca Regency, Yohanus Bernardo Seran, said that the supervision of foreigners in the local area needs to be continuously improved, both by land and sea.

"Moreover, in the political year towards the 2024 General Election, it is inseparable from issues related to population and government policies for people who are on state borders such as in Malacca," he said.

Previously, the series of behavior of foreigners in Bali has been in the public spotlight in the country lately. The reason is that most of them do not respect local rules and culture are considered disturbing.

The behavior of foreigners in Bali who are considered worrying is like violating traffic and even fighting back when they are reprimanded by the police. Also, not a few who work illegally do not comply with VISA's visit.

Recently, foreigners in South Kuta Bali are openly making petitions because they are disturbed by the sound of chickens from community settlements adjacent to the inn.
