During The Holy Month Of Ramadan, Mataram Residents Are Prohibited From Tracing Firecrackers

MATARAM - The City Government (Pemkot) of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, has issued circulars related to a number of policies during Ramadan 1444 Hijri, one of which sells and ignites firecrackers.

This is an effort to ensure calm, peaceful atmosphere, sincerity, and tolerance, during the implementation of fasting.

Head of the Mataram City Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) I Nyoman Swandiasa in Mataram, Thursday, said that the Circular Letter of the Mayor of Mataram Number: 100.3.4/275/SETDA/III/2023, concerning the Implementation of the Activities of the Holy Month of Ramadan 1444 Hijriah/2023 AD, has been distributed today.

"We will distribute the SE to the relevant Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD), including six sub-districts, 50 sub-districts, and 325 neighborhoods, as a reference for implementation in the field," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 16.

According to him, in the circular there were eight points that became the attention of the city government to be followed up during the holy month of Ramadan, including the manager of entertainment venues not to move during Ramadan. Then owners of restaurants, stalls, restaurants and lesehan can open their businesses from 16.00 to 04.30 WITA.

In the circular, Swandiasa continued, the Mataram City Government also does not allow the activities of people who sell and sound all types of firecrackers, fireworks, and or similar materials.

In addition, he said, illegal racing is not allowed, be it motorcycle racing, cars, cidomo, horses, running, and various activities that have the potential to cause disturbances during Ramadan.

"Therefore, to ensure that the circular is carried out, teams from the Satpol PP, TNI/Polri, will carry out regular supervision, and impose sanctions in accordance with the provisions," he said.

He further said that in the circular, the Mataram City Government also appealed to all residents of Mataram City to maintain a peaceful, safe and tolerant atmosphere between religious communities.

"Especially for Muslims who carry out fasting to fill the month of Ramadan with worship activities, social activities, congregational prayers, and other worship activities," said Swandiasa.
