NATUNA - The Indonesian Air Force Base (Air Force Base) Raden Sadjad (RSA Air Force Base) sprinkled salt in the sky of Serasan Island, Natuna Regency, Riau Islands in carrying out Weather Modification Technology (TMC) operations.

This operation used the Indonesian Air Force Casa C-212-200 aircraft registration number A-2103 Air Squadron 4 Abd Saleh Air Base in Natuna.

"TMC was carried out in the airspace of the Serasan Island landslide disaster", said Air Force Commander Raden Sadjad (RSA Danlanud), Colonel (Pnb) Jajang Setiawan quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 14.

He said the TMC mission had been going on for four days and had sown approximately 4 tons of salt on Serasan Island.

One sortie of salt sowing according to him can be done with approximately 700 kg to 800 kg.

"Seeding is carried out three times a day by adjusting the potential for clouds to be shed before the rain occurs", said Danlanud.

With the TMC, it is hoped that it will help the joint SAR team on Serasan Island to search for the victims of the landslide disaster in Pangkalan Village, Serasan District, Natuna.

"Thank God, as long as the TMC activities run well and smoothly, I hope this mission can help the task force team who are carrying out a search mission for victims at the disaster site", said Danlanud.

The TMC operational mission activities, said Jajang Setiawan, were carried out by the Indonesian Air Force together with BNPB, BRIN and BMKG to anticipate extreme weather or high rainfall on Serasan Island.
