70 Doctors Will Handle 1 Year Old Baby Siam Twins Operation At The Lampung Hospital Tomorrow

JAKARTA - As many as 70 doctors will handle the first conjoined twins operation at the Abdoel Moeloek Regional General Hospital (RSUDAM) Lampung. The operation will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, March 15.

"The operation of the conjoined twins to compete with the front chest or xipho-omphalopagus will be carried out tomorrow on March 15th," said Director of RSUDAM Lampung Dr Lukman Pura, in Bandarlampung, Tuesday, March 14.

He said, judging from the clinical condition of the baby Aliah and Afifah in a stable and healthy condition. Both are even 1 year old on February 4.

"In the implementation of the first conjoined twins operation, approximately 70 doctors will be involved, and simulations and preparations have been carried out since 1 year," he said.

A similar response was also said by the Head of the Siam Twin Surgery Team at RSUDAM dr. Billy Rosan Sp.BA.

"This team will involve 70 doctors from RSUDAM as the main operator and Dr Soetomo Regional General Hospital is helpful, such as for surgeons 1 person can be helped, heart surgery 3 people, and plastic surgery 3 people," said Dr Billy Rosan Sp.BA.

He explained that during the conjoined twins' surgery, the pediatric patient from Bunga Mayang, Kotabumi, North Lampung, would be carried out for approximately 12 hours, with a success rate of 85 percent.

"Because the condition is that the union of the lower chest bone has a unified heart. The risks faced are that the liver or liver has many blood vessels and is prone to bleeding. This will be anticipated with operational techniques and the use of available equipment," he added.

According to him, after the operation, the conjoined twins will go through a period of recovery for one week, and will continue to go through an intensive supervision period for the first year.

"In the first year, you must often control to monitor intensively. Hopefully this will run smoothly because the level of patient's organ maturity is sufficient and preparations have been made over the past year," he said again.
