MAGELANG - Mount Merapi activity is still fluctuating. Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asked the Geophysical Disaster Technology Research and Development Center (BPPTKG) to continue to inform every development.

This was conveyed by Ganjar after visiting the Mount Merapi Babadan Observation Post, Magelang Regency, Monday, March 13. Ganjar said that the people around Merapi actually understand better the natural signs.

"They understand, the science of the title is greater than me, greater than the people there, this is added by information from friends who are on guard at this post every day, in Babadan," he said.

For this reason, Ganjar Pranowo hopes that information at Babadan Post is always given to the public every day. Even though from his observations, Ganjar saw that the public was still calm.

"Hopefully they are used to taking quick action. However, we must not ignore it, we are on standby," he said.

Like several vulnerable groups he met at the Krinjing Village Hall, Dukun District. They claimed to be ready to follow the instructions in case of a bad situation.

"So, it means that the community is really preparing to work together to wait for the order, to save themselves if something happens," he said.

Ganjar, who was accompanied by the Head of BPPTKG Agus Budi Santoso, received an explanation of the worst potential that must be watched out for. Because, there was an eruption that recently turned out to change the shape of the Gunung Merapi dome.

"Information from friends here, it is still very volatile. My job is to keep an eye on it every day and make sure the friends in the area around here, the brothers and sisters around here are really on standby. You can't underestimate it," he said.

The evacuation scheme, said Ganjar, has been understood by residents. Moreover, the concept of twin villages is still being implemented. Ganjar requested that currently vulnerable groups be re-registered which must be prioritized.

"It just needs to get used to fast movement with the community. So the concept is that the twin villages have actually been caught. Where will you run later, use whose vehicle, which evacuation route is quite helpful. The experience of friends, including volunteers who accompany them here, is the best," he said.

For information, BPPTKG noted that Mount Merapi had spewed hot clouds of avalanches 60 times as of Monday, March 13 today.

"On March 11-12, 2023, Mount Merapi launched hot clouds towards the Bebeng River. Until now, Monday, March 13, 2023, 60 hot cloud avalanches occurred on Mount Merapi," said Head of BPPTKG, Agus Budi Santoso in his statement.

Ganjar Pranowo asked the residents who live in areas that are predicted to be affected by the eruption of the Merapi to always be vigilant.
