East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police (Kapolda) require all of its subordinates to use bags with weaving motifs.

Police Chief Inspector General Johanis Asadoma said the effort was a form of support for local micro, small and medium enterprises.

"So, starting this morning it has been applied to members and all of them have used their spare bags when participating in the morning rally," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Police Commissioner Ariasandy in Kupang, NTT, Monday, March 13, as reported by Antara.

This was conveyed by Ariasandy in response to the media crew's question about the policy of the NTT Police Chief which required all regional police personnel to use bags along with weaving motifs.

He explained that the bags used also vary, both motif cloth from various regions in NTT and from woven Lontar leaves.

Ariasandy said the policy implemented by the Kapolda was to support the economy in the East Nusa Tenggara region.

"With the strong promotion and assistance of members of the NTT Regional Police who market this typical NTT product, it is hoped that it will be known to all levels of society," he said.

Before requiring its personnel to wear bags with weaving motifs, the NTT Police Chief also used a bag with a typical Nagekeo weaving motif.

The Head of Public Relations considered that the NTT Police Chief made himself a running promotional medium, especially since the regional police chief was always present at every event and invitation from outside NTT.

Previously, the NTT Police Chief said that by using traditional products or local products, MSMEs or people's products, this bag would be known and people would also buy it.

"So, you don't have to use expensive ones anymore, just use something like this," he said.
