Pertamina Corrects The Misunderstanding Of Residents Of Plumpang Depot Victims About Prohibited Lawsuits

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga responded to reports of a ban on the victim's family to sue Pertamina for the Plumpang Fuel Depot explosion incident that occurred, last Friday, March 3.

From the short video received by VOI, Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Irto Ginting gave an explanation regarding the misunderstanding. Irto said that in the process of handing over the funeral fee assistance there was no element of coercion regarding the approval not to file a lawsuit against the state-owned company.

"What is meant as a lawsuit here is a lawsuit from other residents over the handover of this funeral fee. So there should not be other heirs who claim that he is the most entitled to the funeral assistance," explained Irto, quoted on Friday, March 11.

Irto emphasized that the compensation provided by Pertamina was the funeral fee for the victim's death due to the incident and not the cost of spirituality.

"Furthermore, there will be spiritual compensation which will be delivered directly to the families or heirs of the victims," concluded Irto.

Previously, the Head of RW 01, Rawa Badak Selatan Village, Bambang Setiono admitted that if there were residents, they would be given money so as not to demand compensation from Pertamina.

"Yes, yesterday someone complained to me about it," said Setiono when confirmed, Tuesday, March 7.

Setiono explained that the incident began when the families of the victims of the Pertamina Plumpang Depot fire buried their families at the funeral. Suddenly someone gave Rp10 million with the condition that they signed on stamps.

For information, the fire at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot occurred Friday, March 3 at 20.11 WIB. The fire, which started with Pertamina's gasoline pipe, spread to a residence in Rawabadak Selatan Village, Koja District, North Jakarta.

The fire was only extinguished on Saturday, March 4 at 02.19 WIB. As a result of this incident, 16 residents died. And 37 people received treatment in a number of hospitals.
