GARUT - The Provincial Government of West Java has prepared a budget of IDR 31 billion to repair damaged road conditions on the Bandung-Garut section so that motorists can drive comfortably and safely.

"The Governor will build a road here (Bandung-Garut) at a cost of Rp. 31 billion for 15 kilometers," said West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum after inspecting the damaged road in the Leles area, Garut Regency, West Java, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 9.

The West Java Provincial Government has received information from the public that the Bandung-Garut main road, to be precise, in Leles District is in a damaged condition and endangers motorists who pass through that route.

As a result of the damaged road, he said, it was reported that it had caused an accident and fatalities due to a fall from his vehicle while avoiding a pothole, for this reason the government's concern is to fix it immediately.

"At the request of the public to see the situation on Jalan Bandung-Garut, to be precise in Leles, because there have been several victims who died here, he said there were three motorbike riders, avoiding potholes, and falling and other causes," he said.

Uu said that the area was a provincial government road that had the authority to repair it by the province and as soon as possible the road would return to good condition with the target of completion before Eid 2023.

"Eid, God willing, it can be used," he said.

He hopes that road repairs in Garut can be carried out properly according to the budget prepared by the government so that they have good quality and long durability.

"We ask for the quality of repairs to be according to specifications," he said.

The road repair is a program launched by the provincial government, namely the Jamu Program, which means smooth roads.

Apart from the road in Leles, he said, the province will also repair main roads in the southern Garut region such as Cikajang, Pameungpeuk, and Bungbulang, and other areas which will be carried out in stages.

"We hope that the public will be patient if any of our programs have not been completed," he said.
