East Lampung Regent Dawam Rahardjo admitted that he contributed to the construction of the Lampung Nahdliyin Center (LNC) building at his own initiative.

The LNC building was recently confiscated by the KPK due to the bribery case for accepting new students (PMB) who dragged the former Chancellor of the University of Lampung (Unila) Karomani.

"At that time I was invited to look into the LNC by Maulana Mukhlis and Mualimin because it was all empty, then spontaneously conveyed what I could help," Dawam said when he was a witness in the follow-up trial of the PMB Unila bribery case, at the Tanjungkarang District Court, Bandarlampung, Thursday, March 9, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said his visit to the LNC was also unintentional, because at that time there was a need with Maulana Mukhlis to invite him as a team for the selection committee for filling the Primary High Leadership Position (JPTP).

"So the initial goal was that I wanted to meet Maulana Mukhlis to invite her as the JPTP pansel team. Then Maulana Mukhlis said to meet at the LNC, so I went there (LNC)," he said.

He also admitted that at that time there were those who said they were still lacking in seats in LNC, so he immediately asked how many needs it would take to meet the needs of the seat.

"Kursi pak. Saya bilang kalau kursi-kira sekitar berapa. Saya tantakan kira-kira, Rp100 juta saya bantu untuk kursi," kata dia.

Dawam said a week later he also met Maulana Mukhlis to jointly buy a chair at a furniture shop in Bandarlampung.

"Yes, the two of them together with Maulana Mukhlis went to a furniture shop to buy a seat for LNC needs. The one who got off Maulana Mukhlis I was in the car, then Maulana Mukhlis came back and said it was Rp71 million, then the rest of the money I said was for LNC purposes," he said again.

He also emphasized that he had never entrusted the child to be able to graduate to the Faculty of Medicine, Unila.

"I never left it. But indeed my son is at the Faculty of Medicine in Unila, but uses the achievement path to memorize 30 juz Al Quran in 2021. In 2022, there is also a recommendation letter for one of my friends' children to pass Unila, but they do not pass. But that is a regular recommendation letter requested by people who want to take specialists and others," he said.

The follow-up trial of the PMB Unila bribery case against the defendant Karomani, former Deputy Chancellor I for Academic Affairs Unila Heryandi, and former Senate Chairperson Unila Muhammad M Basri continues today, Thursday 9 March. The trial was chaired by panel of judges Lingga Setiawan, Aria Veronica, Edi Purbanus, Ahmad Rifai, and Efiyanto.

The KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) presented members of the DPR to regional heads as witnesses in the 2022 PMB Unila follow-up trial.

The six witnesses were Member of the DPR Tamanuri, East Lampung Regent Dawam Rahardjo, Head of the Lampung Province Education Office of Sulpakar, FKIP Lecturer Unila I Wayan Mustika, Secretary of the South Lampung Education Office Asep Jamhur, and PWNU Lampung Secretary Aryanto Munawar.

In this case, the KPK has named four suspects consisting of three people as bribe recipients, namely Karomani, Heryandi, M Basri. Meanwhile, the suspect who gave the bribe was the private party, Andi Desfiandi, who had been sentenced by the panel of judges.
