JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali delivered an official resignation letter as a menpora to Minister of State Secretariat Pratikno. "This morning I just met with the Minister of State Secretary, I delivered a letter requesting my resignation from my position as Minister of Youth and Sports," said Zainudin Amali at the Jakarta Ministry of State Secretary's Building, Antara, Thursday, March 9. Earlier on February 20, 2023, Menpora Zainudin Amali said President Jokowi had allowed himself to focus and concentrate on managing national football after the minister from the Golkar Party was elected as Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI). However, because he had not officially received Amali's resignation letter, President Jokowi had not yet decided on his replacement name. "And of course it is still a letter. Indeed, I have to meet the President, he is now not there (at the Palace), so it is possible that I am scheduled to meet with the President on Monday, March 13," said Amali. President Jokowi is known to have made a working visit to Central Java on March 9 and 10, 2023. "Friends asked when to deliver the letter, today is March 9, Thursday, I brought it. Just wait, the decision is with the President, not with me," added Amali. Amali admitted that he did not propose a specific name to replace his position as Menpora. "Yes, no, the replacement is the prerogative of the President, as I said some time ago officially, verbally I have conveyed to the President that I will focus and concentrate on taking care of one of the sports," said Amali. According to Amali, the reason for resigning was to take care of football. "It's not ethical for me as the Minister of Youth and Sports who manages all sports, how come I only focus on one branch? Finally, I asked the President's permission and he allowed it," added Amali. Amali also admitted that he had another big task, namely implementing Presidential Instruction Number 3 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of National Football Development "What is currently in the process of being perfected, namely the acceleration of national football development, so it is still in the sport environment, but focuses on one of the sports," said Amali. Meanwhile, from his original party, namely the Golkar Party, Amali also said that he did not offer a certain name. "That's communication between the General Chairperson and the President, I also didn't ask and Pak Airlangga had invited me to discuss various things that happened, work at the Ministry of Youth and Sports," added Amali. Amali also admitted that it was not difficult to leave his position as Menpora. "It's not (heavy) because you already have a commitment to guard Presidential Instruction 3/2019, you are still meeting, who knows," said Amali. Amali said he also copied his resignation letter to PSSI General Chair who is also BUMN Minister Erick Thohir. "He (Erick Thohir) has received my letter, and he will convey it to the President and God willing, I will meet the President on Monday," said Amali.
