Vice President Asks Diaspora To Actively Contribute To Homeland's Digital Transformation

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked Indonesian diaspora abroad, especially in Japan to actively contribute to encouraging digital transformation in the country.

This was conveyed by the Vice President in his direction at the "National Dialogue with the Indonesian Diaspora" event in Osaka, Japan, Monday, March 6

"In my view, basically Indonesia cannot be left behind in the field of technological development. I hope the Indonesian people, especially those who have the opportunity to study abroad, continue to actively deepen their knowledge for the betterment of Mother Earth," the Vice President said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 6.

The Vice President reminded that the digital technology created must be able to positively build community ethics and civilization.

"I hope we can create digital technology transformation that can build people's civilization, instead of fostering the spread of fake news or hoaxes, and the spread of slander, extremist views and incitement to terrorism," said the Vice President.

On the other hand, the Vice President hopes for the active role of the Indonesian people around the world in facing various challenges in an uncertain geopolitical situation, such as the war in Ukraine, the South China Sea conflict, Myanmar, Korea, and the Taiwan Strait.

According to him, the world needs ideas, including from the Indonesian people, to find common ground between the various differences, both domestically and internationally.

The Vice President hopes that the Indonesian people, with their respective capacities, will be able to mediate for world leaders who are involved in various global conflicts.

"Indonesia has been considered successful in becoming a bridge in the midst of world leaders' differences in the G20 Presidency in 2022. However, our role in being able to become a bridge for various interests does not stop there. In 2023, Indonesia will have a turn to become ASEAN Chair," he added.

The Vice President asked the Indonesian Diaspora in Japan to become the nation's ambassadors in representing Indonesia. Because, according to him, the achievements of diplomacy will not be brilliant without the stability of domestic conditions.

"I ask all Indonesian people in Japan to continue to maintain harmony and harmony. Fellow countrymen must take care of each other, help each other, especially when there are difficulties, "asked the Vice President.

"To Indonesian Representative Offices abroad, I ask you to do your best to protect Indonesian citizens," he added.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Heri Akhmadi, expressed his special appreciation to the Vice President for the implementation of this National Dialogue.

"So far the meetings with the Indonesian people have been just a side event from the visit of the President or the Vice President, this time it is really special because the main activity of the Vice President's working visit to Japan is mainly to meet Indonesian citizens and the diaspora," said Ambassador Heri.
