JAKARTA - Ukraine's recent attacks on the Bryansk region did not make the Russian government announce a military emergency status.
At a press conference in Moscow, Friday, March 3, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the investigation was ongoing and conclusions would be drawn up once completed.
Citing Antara, he said additional security measures had been put in place in the Bryansk region - which borders Ukraine - for a long time.
Peskov said Russian President Vladimir Putin would hold a meeting of the Russian Security Council on Friday, and incidents in the Bryansk region would be one of the discussion agendas.
On Thursday (2/3), Moscow said Ukrainian forces launched an attack on the Bryansk region that killed a civilian and injured a 10-year-old boy.
Peskov called the boy who was injured in the attack a hero because he helped two other children survive.
The civilian killed was a driver who also helped save the children from the attack, which President Putin called a terrorist attack.
Peskov further noted that despite the latest incident, the US continues to supply weapons to Ukraine.
"We note the sustainability of the US to increase its own supply of weapons and persuade its allies in Europe, namely European Union countries, to increase similar supply," he said.
Peskov said the continuous supply of weapons would be a burden for EU citizens and would have a negative impact on their welfare.
"(The delivery of weapons) in principle will not be able to affect the outcome of events, but it will make the conflict protracted and with more sad consequences for the Ukrainian people... this is a fact," he said.
