Central Java Police Close 2 Illegal Mining In Pati And Batang

Central Java Police closed two illegal mining sites in Batang and Pati Regencies. One perpetrator was also arrested along with evidence in the form of a number of heavy equipment. This was revealed by the Director of Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimsus) Kombes Dwi Soelagio at Mako Ditreskrimsus, Semarang City, Thursday, March 2.

The two illegal mining sites are considered new due to less than two months of activities.

"The two mines do not have any permits at all," said Kombes Dwi Soelagio in a written statement, Thursday, March 2.

The first location of the illegal mining case is located in Batang Regency, precisely in Babadan Village, Limpung District. At that location, officers found rock mining action of BLAndos type.

"From the Batang TKP, we asked for information from three witnesses, namely the heavy equipment provider with the initials M, operator Z, and land provider K," he explained.

They admitted that the mining process used excavators which had been carried out since December 2022. Every day around 15-20 urits were successfully dredged up to then sell for IDR 500 thousand per rupiah.

"There has been no determination of the suspect, still investigating later there will be a case title to determine the suspect," he explained.

At the second TKP in Gadudero Village, Sukolilo, Pati Regency, officers found illegal activities of dredging the urug land on Wednesday, February 22.

Illegal mining activities in Pati began in January 2023, at that location one day were able to dredge 30-40 rupiah sold for IDR 180 thousand per rupiah.

His party has also examined three witnesses who led to the determination of the suspect, a man with the initials W, as the person in charge of mining.

Illegal mining activities in the two locations caused potential state losses of IDR 650 million.

"Our perpetrators are ensnared by Article 158 and Article 160 of Law Number 3 of 2020 with five years imprisonment," he concluded.
