CIREBON - Cirebon Police, West Java arrested two suspects for throwing a baby on the side of the road near a rice fields in Palimanan District, Cirebon Regency. "The two perpetrators who were arrested were an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old woman," said Cirebon Deputy Chief of Police AKBP Dedy Darmawansyah in Cirebon, quoted from Antara, Monday, February 27. The arrests of the two perpetrators, who were students, began with the discovery of a baby girl on the side of the road near a rice fields in Palimanan District, Cirebon Regency. At that time, continued Dedy, local residents who happened to cross the road heard the sound of a baby crying, so they looked for him and found a baby girl lying on the side of the road and then reported it to the Gempol Police. "Officers who received the report immediately went to the scene," he said. Dedy said after that the officers immediately conducted an investigation and asked for witness testimony and then took the baby to the nearest health center for examination. After conducting an investigation, and from the results of the preliminary examination, it turned out that the baby girl was only born on Saturday morning at a clinic in Gunungjati District, Cirebon Regency. Then the baby was dumped by the two perpetrators on Saturday night. The suspect who threw away the baby was a couple. The second motive was because they were afraid of being scolded by their parents. "A number of evidences were also secured including motorbikes, baby clothes, baby blankets, gloves, and others," said Dedy. Currently, the case has been transferred to the Cirebon Police Satreskrim PPA Unit. To account for their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 305 of the Criminal Code and threatened with a maximum sentence of 5 years and 6 months in prison.
