Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. Moeldoko is optimistic that the TNI will consistently develop as an institution that is increasingly professional and prioritizes human rights. Various survey institutions also place the TNI as the institution with the highest level of trust in the community.

"After the reform, the TNI has positioned itself very well by educating its soldiers to become professionals that the Indonesian people really feel proud of. Human rights and humanitarian law issues are serious guidelines for TNI leaders in building professional soldiers in the field who respect human rights," said Moeldoko at the opening of a seminar entitled Hazard Risk Mitigation for Civilians in Jakarta, Monday 27 February.

In this seminar held by the Center for Naval Analysis (CNA) with the United States Department of State, Moeldoko conveyed the need for training in mitigating the risk of danger for civilians in military operations. This is because the TNI is the main component of national defense that has an obligation to protect the right to life and the right to security for all Indonesian citizens.

As TNI Commander in 2013-2015, Moeldoko also assured that the training and briefing of TNI soldiers in military operations were in accordance with the provisions of the international humanitarian law in force.

"I hope that seminars like this will become a learning process that contributes to each other and provides knowledge and experience distribution. We need to learn the experience of the United States which has experience in fighting in various countries. Indonesia also has a long military operation experience. So if we unite the experiences of these two countries, then hopefully this will be a beneficial thing in the future," added Moeldoko.

For information, since 1957, Indonesia has been active in the UN Peacekeeping Forces mission and has contributed significantly to world order, in accordance with the constitutional mandate. Indonesia is consistently part of the country's top 10 contributors to the UN Peacekeeping Forces.

The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) led by Moeldoko also continues to encourage the creation of cooperation between Indonesia and the United States, especially in ensuring the creation of stability and peace in the region through various collaborations in the field of defense, education and so on.
