JAKARTA - A mob beat up a motorbike thief in Pondok Kelapa, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta on Tuesday, February 21. Not satisfied with beating him, the residents tied up the perpetrator and stripped him naked in the middle of the street.

"Earlier someone shouted a thief, I came out. There was a motorcycle lying in front, I saw the perpetrator run towards the exit. We chased it while the residents screamed", said the head of RT 9/05, Nugroho, one of the eyewitnesses. the incident, Tuesday, February 21.

However, because the residents were surrounded, finally one perpetrator was arrested. With their bare hands and hoses, the residents judged the perpetrators. When they were searched, the perpetrator also carried a letter T key along with various other types of keys.

"There were two perpetrators, one ran straight and one turned. I chased the one who turned but was not caught up. This perpetrator was caught by other residents and when I returned, the perpetrators were already being beaten up by the mob", he said.

In the action, according to eyewitnesses to the incident, the other perpetrator who managed to escape from the pursuit of the residents was a woman. The perpetrator when carrying out the theft with a woman used a black automatic motorbike with the number B 3797 KUU.

"The perpetrators claimed to be residents of Cakung. The perpetrators were a woman and a man, who was arrested by men. There were many letter T keys and in the pockets of many different types of motorbike keys", he said.

The residents then undressed the perpetrator and tied the perpetrator's hands behind his back. The suspect suffered several injuries on his body. Luckily, the perpetrator's life was saved from the wrath of the residents after members of the Duren Sawit Criminal Investigation Police arrived at the scene.

The perpetrator was then put in the car of a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit to be taken to the Duren Sawit Police along with several pieces of evidence. Now, the case is still under investigation by the Duren Sawit Police.
