JAKARTA - The Mataram Search and Rescue Office (SAR) team found the body of a resident of Wonosari Village, South Sumatra named Ibrahim Ghozali (28) who drowned on Lawar Beach, West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Saturday (18/2) at 17.00 WITA.

"The victim was found on the seabed on Sunday, at 10.30 WITA, still around the scene," said Head of the Operations and Alert Section of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhdar, quoted by Antara, Sunday.

He said the incident began when the victim swam with two of his colleagues on Lawar Beach, Sekongkang Bawah Village, Sekongkang District, West Sumbawa, on Saturday (18/2). However, suddenly the victim drowned and was dragged by the ocean current at around 17.00 WITA.

The Mataram SAR Office, which received a report on the incident, deployed Sumbawa SAR Post personnel to search for victims who are known to live in the Sekongkang Village area.

The search effort also involved a joint SAR team from elements of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Sumbawa Regency, members of the TNI, police, employees of PT Amman Mineral, and local residents.

"The search by the joint SAR team has been carried out since yesterday (Saturday)," said Muhdar.

He said that after a search was carried out from the surface of the water using a engined rubber boat and through diving around the scene, the victim was finally found dead.

Furthermore, the victim was evacuated and taken to Benete Harbor, West Sumbawa Regency to be handed over to the medical team.

"With the discovery of the victim, the search operation is stopped," said Muhdar.
