Allegedly Darking The Social Assistance Assistance For PPKM, The Village Head In Nagan Raya Was Arrested

Investigators from the Nagan Raya Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Aceh Province, arrested a man with the initials RE (45) who became the Head of Sumber Makmur Village, Darul Makmur District, for allegedly embezzling PPKM social assistance belonging to his citizens in January 2022.

"We have detained this village head, because he is suspected of falsifying the power of attorney for social assistance fund recipients in his village," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police, Aceh, AKP Machfud, quoted by Antara, Sunday.

He explained that RE was previously arrested by the police based on reports from residents for allegedly falsifying the voice of power of attorney for recipients of social assistance for four residents in his village.

The alleged fraud was discovered by the victim, after a nephew of the victim checked a sharia bank, to find out whether the victim's name was registered as the recipient of the PPKM social assistance fund in January 2022.

However, it was later discovered that the PPKM social assistance funds on behalf of the victim and the victim's nephew's biological mother had been taken by the village head.

According to data obtained from the bank, said AKP Machfud, it was stated on January 26, 2022, using a power of attorney on behalf of the victim addressed to brother RE, along with the victim's signature in a letter made on January 25, 2022.

"As far as the victim's knowledge and knowledge, the victim never made or signed any power of attorney, addressed to RE's brother to withdraw the victim's PPKM social assistance funds," said AKP Machfud.

There was also the amount of funds that each victim should have received in the amount of Rp. 1.2 million, with a total loss suffered by four victims of Rp. 4.8 million.

AKP Machfud also explained that before the detention was carried out, the police had tried to resolve the case amicably between the victim and the perpetrator.

However, these efforts failed, and the victim insisted that he wanted to continue the alleged criminal case of fraud to court.
