Ready To Fight With Russia If The Country Is Invased, The President Of Belarus: His Death Will Be Terrible

JAKARTA - President Alexander Lukashenko said on Thursday he would order his troops to fight alongside Russian allies if other countries launched attacks on Belarus, the news agency Belta reported.

Lukashenko, who has repeatedly denied claims from Kyiv and the West that his country could be further dragged into war in Ukraine on the part of Moscow, also said he plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

"I am ready to fight with Russia from Belarus in just one case: If one soldier comes to Belarus to kill my people," he said.

"If they carry out aggression against Belarus, the response will be the most terrible, and the war will be very different," he continued.

He further warned, in that case "war will have completely different characters."

President Lukashenko underlined that this is not only about Ukraine, but also other neighbors. He stressed that Belarusians are peace-minded people.

"We know what war is like. We don't want war. And we will not send our troops into Ukrainian territory. Unless you carry out aggression against Belarusian territory from there. This is my answer. It has been given for a long time," he stressed, as reported by TASS.

Lukashenko recalled that Russia is an ally of Belarus and the two countries have a joint military group, but Russia has never asked "aged to start a war against Ukraine."

According to President Lukashenko, Belarus provides security in the West. At the same time, he cited intelligence data stating that the West wanted to draw Belarus into war.

The West is said to have truly " dreamed of" this, which would be possible, taking into account the length of the Belarusian border, to further stretch the frontline for another 2,500 kilometers, which would complicate the situation.

"On the surface, the calculations are correct. But in fact, it's stupid. We won't give you a chance. If you dare to set foot on our land, the answer will be terrible. Westerners know what it will be like and what weapons will be used," explained Lukashenko.

He recalled that Belarus had 75,000 peaceful soldiers, but if necessary, under conditions of wartime could be increased to half a million.

"No sane person wants war. As long as there is no expansion of today's aggression, let's negotiate peace," he said, stressing that the West and Ukraine are not ready for now.

"You are not ready yet. It will be a terrible tragedy and disaster for you, if peace talks start now. You need war," said Lukashenko.

President Lukashenko added that currently there are more than 20 thousand mercenaries sent by the West to Ukraine.

"How many people did Lukashenko send there? How many? He didn't send anyone. But you denounced me. I didn't send people to war there and I wouldn't do that," the president stressed.

It is known that Russia used Belarus as a performance post for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine last year, launching a failed attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv of the country.
