JAKARTA - A theft perpetrator can only be curled up at the housing security post in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta.

The man who claimed to be named Johan (40), a resident of Pisangan Baru, was battered all over his body due to being beaten by a mob for stealing.

According to housing security officer, Edy said the incident occurred in RW 05 Kapuk Village, Duren Sawit. However, the perpetrator was caught by the owner of the house, then the perpetrator fled until he was caught in the RT 03/07 area.

"(The perpetrator) was taken by residents to the post. Then we investigated, his confession was in Pisangan, Matraman," Edy told reporters, Wednesday, February 15.

In addition to securing the perpetrators, a cellphone unit was also confiscated as evidence.

"(which was taken) a cellphone. The culprit was one person who did it," he said.

The perpetrators had to be secured to a housing security post because the crowd continued to gang up when they were arrested.

"From the road (the perpetrator) was beaten by a mob, finally he had to be secured to the post. The perpetrator was around 40 years old. Now he has been handed over to the Duren Sawit Police," he said.
