"Therefore, the preservation of river basins is an effort to reduce disaster risk," he said.

He said the government was tasked with and seeking security related to flooding by normalizing. At the time of the normalization process, people were asked not to plant cocoa, coffee, or any plants behind gabions, but plant bamboo.

Samuel Pongi asked the sub-district heads and village heads to socialize the importance of reforestation of river basins to reduce the risk of flooding to the community.

He explained that the Sigi Regency Government made efforts to normalize river basins to reduce the risk of flooding. Normalization efforts were carried out in coordination with the Sulawesi III River Basin Center.
