70 Motors Using Brong Clover Implemented By Police Officers

The Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of the Bantul Police, Yogyakarta Special Region has netted 70 motorcycles using non-standard exhaust or Brong. Head of Traffic Unit for Bantul Police, Iptu Fikri Kurniawan said the raid activities were held in two locations, namely Ringroad Street in front of Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMY), and Ringroad Dongkelan intersection.

"This raid was carried out at a number of road points to curb motorcyclists using non-standard exhausts. This activity is also carried out in the context of Operation Safety Progo-2023," Fikri said in a written message, Sunday, February 12.

According to him, there were many complaints from residents regarding the noise of the motor exhaust, so that his party was increasingly conducting raids. From the complaint, the public complained about the very disturbing noise of motorbikes using non-standard exhausts.

"We carried out Brong exhaust raids because there were many complaints from residents who entered our complaint numbers," he said.

He said all the two-wheeled vehicles that were secured were not in accordance with the provisions regarding emissions or exhausts, so the sound was very deafening and of course disturbing security and comfort.

"We convey once again, we expect the cooperation of motorists to respect other road users," he said.

Fikri said the drivers of the stolen brong exhaust vehicles were examined for documents and confiscated. They can take the vehicle after installing the exhaust according to the manufacturer's standards.

"Activities like this will continue to be carried out in the future to keep the Bantul area free of Brong exhaust," he said.
