Anies Baswedan's Clarification On Debt Of IDR 50 Billion: It's A Contribution, If You Win The Pilkada, You Don't Need To Be Paid

JAKARTA - Former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, clarified the debt of IDR 50 billion to his partner in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada, Sandiaga Uno. According to Anies, when he ran for the DKI gubernatorial election with Sandiaga, there were many donations that came in, both known and unknown.

Of the many donations, said Anies, there were direct donations. Where the donor or support for the campaign asked to be recorded as debt.

"There is a loan, actually it is not a loan, the support provider asks to be recorded as debt. So, the support that asks to be recorded as debt," Anies said in a broadcast on Merry Riana's Youtube channel, Friday, February 10. Anies said that Sandiaga Uno acted as a guarantor, not as a loan giver. He said the Rp50 billion came from a third party. It's just that, he did not reveal who the third party was the donor.

"That's support, Mr. Sandi's guarantor. So the money is not from Mr. Sandi, it is a third party who supports it, then I stated that it should be recorded as a debt," said Anies. However, if he and Sandiaga fail to win the 2017 DKI Pilkada, it will be recorded as a debt and must be returned. However, he said that the Rp50 billion debt did not have to be paid because they won in the 2017 DKI Pilkada. "So, that's what happened. Once the election is finished, win, it is finished," said Anies. The NasDem Party presidential candidate (readpres) admits he was surprised, why this issue was re-revealed. Anies is ready to show the agreement document if it is necessary and becomes a problem.

"There is a document, if one day it needs to be seen, it's okay, because there is nothing extraordinary there. So there is no debt that must be repaid because the Pilkada is over. It becomes strange when it is now discussed," explained Anies.

Previously, regarding Anies' Rp50 billion debt to Sandiaga Uno was originally revealed by Golkar Party politician Erwin Aksa when he was a guest star on Akbar Faizal Uncensored's Youtube channel which aired on Saturday, February 4. Erwin said, during the first round of the 2017 DKI Pilkada, Sandiaga had lent Anies Rp50 billion for winning logistics.

"Because Mr. Sandi has liquidity, then gives a loan to Mr. Anies," said Erwin.

According to Erwin, the amount of loan from Sandiaga to Anies was around Rp. 50 billion and had not been paid off. According to him, the draft of the agreement was made by lawyer Sandiaga Uno and made at the will of former Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK).

"How much is the value, Rp 50 billion maybe. I don't think it's (expert) perhaps. Pak JK himself advised us anyway," said Erwin.
