PAPUA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that 700 people fled after the 5.4 magnitude earthquake (M) that rocked Jayapura City, Papua today.
Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said the refugees were at four evacuation sites.
"The BNPB Control and Operations Center (Pusdalops) detailed that there were 50 families who took refuge in the CV Complex Entropy. Thomas, then 50 families at BTN Jayapura City, then 200 people in Christ Raja Dok V and 400 people in Bhayangkara I," Abdul said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, January 9.
"In addition to refugees, the BNPB Pusdalops also noted that at least five people were injured by the earthquake which was centered at 2.60 South Latitude and 140.66 East Longitude at a depth of 10 kilometers," said Abdul.
Previously, it was reported that due to the earthquake, four people died.
