The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kanwil Kemenkumham) Aceh noted that there has been an increase in the application for intellectual property (HAKI) rights in the last three years.

Daily Executor (Plh.) Head of the Aceh Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office Rakhmat Renaldy in Banda Aceh, said the increase showed an increase in public awareness of the importance of registering their intellectual property rights.

"The intellectual property application in Aceh Province has increased in the last three years. In 2020 there were 1,498 applications, (in) 2021 it reached 1463 applications, and in 2022 there were 2,367 applications," said Rakhmat Renaldy, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 2.

Applications for intellectual property rights include patents, copyrights, and trademark rights. Applications are important to prevent legal problems from forming in the future.

Rakhmat explained that the number of intellectual property applications in Aceh could still be increased. Moreover, according to him, so far the application for intellectual property rights has not fully reached all areas of Aceh Province.

In addition, he assessed that public awareness, especially business actors, was still low in registering their intellectual property rights. For business actors, he explained intellectual property rights that can be registered, including business names and trademarks.

"The vast area of Aceh is a challenge in socializing intellectual property. We have not been able to reach far-reaching areas for intellectual property socialization. The further the range of socialization, of course, the more applications for intellectual property will increase," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Legal and Human Rights Service Division of the Aceh Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Junarlis, said that his party had coordinated and collaborated with policy makers so that regional constraints in the socialization of intellectual property in the area could be overcome.

"We continue to try to socialize the importance of intellectual property to the public. Not only those who are close, but also those who are far away and difficult to reach. With the hope, the community registers intellectual property," said Junarlis.
