Jakarta - Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. Moeldoko invites the national automotive industry to continue to develop electric vehicles in Indonesia. This is because the electric vehicle industry promises a fairly large economic opportunity in the future.

This electric vehicle (EV) is a new item with great opportunities. Of course, there must be challenges. We just socialize about batteries because there are many misperceptions in the community. But we have the spirit not to stop conveying information related to this," said Moeldoko at the Launching of the 2023 Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) in Kemayoran, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 31.

Moeldoko, who is also the General Chair of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo), also expressed his hope that Indonesia will no longer continue to be a conserving' of product innovations produced by other countries.

What's more, Indonesia will benefit from the demographic bonus in 2045. Therefore, this momentum must be utilized as well as possible to develop domestic technology and human resources.

This EV is a momentum for us to jump. The current potential period must be taken by other countries? Can we just watch it again? Then what can Indonesia get? So don't give this opportunity to other countries," said Moeldoko.

Meanwhile, the Periclindo electric vehicle exhibition (PEVS) will last for 5 days from May 17-21, 2023 at JIEXPO Kemayoran.

This is the second electric vehicle exhibition. Previously, last year, PEVS, which was held on July 22-31, 2022, managed to record a transaction value of IDR 257 billion with 45,372 participants present.

Moeldoko hopes that the presence of PEVS will continue to educate the public about future-based environmentally friendly vehicles.

"It must be admitted, there are still things that are less than holding an electric vehicle exhibition. But that's okay. Life is in process. The important thing is that we have a consistent spirit, high endurance, do not give up and there is a lot of effort to develop the domestic EV industry," concluded Moeldoko.
