KEPRI - The Central Government is financing the soil investigation or survey of the depth of the Batam-Bintan Bridge (Babin) built in Riau Islands Province (Kepri) amounting to IDR 50 billion.
Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad said that there will be 20 locations where depth surveys will be carried out before the construction of the bridge.
"Currently we are still preparing for 20 soil investigation locations and it took about 10 to 11 months, it was financed by the central government amounting to Rp50 billion. Initially it was charged to us, but because we didn't have money, the central government finally financed it," said Ansar in Batam, Riau Islands, Monday, January 30, confiscated by Antara.
Ansar explained, after the depth survey has been completed, the next stage is carried out, namely the physical construction of the bridge can be started.
"Later, when all the affairs are finished, we will immediately lay the first stone with the President," he said.
For the overall physical construction of the bridge, Ansar estimates it will take 2-3 years to cost an investment of IDR 14.3 trillion.
The Batam-Bintan Bridge is planned to be built along 14.74 kilometers (km) which is divided into 7.68 bridges and 7.06 toll roads.
The distribution of financing covers 7.98 km for the portion of Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) (Bintan Island-Tanjung Sauh Island) and 6.76 km for the portion of government support (Tanjung Sauh Island-Batam Island) which will come from foreign loans.
The bridge construction financing scheme is listed in the Business Case Final which has been compiled by the Directorate General of Public Works and Housing Infrastructure Financing.
Meanwhile, the reconciliation process between the government and the land owners is almost complete, only 1 more land parcel remains unresolved.
