JAKARTA - The Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park Center (TNGGP) has imposed a two-year ban on climbing for nine climbers from Jakarta. They apparently climbed illegally during the closing of Mount Gede-Pangrango after the earthquake hit Cianjur.

"They climbed without permission and violated the procedure because since the 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Cianjur, the climb was closed until an undetermined time limit," said Public Relations of TNGGP Agus Deni when contacted Thursday, January 26.

The nine climbers from Jakarta are now blacklisted or blacklist TNGGP for climbing during a number of hiking trails with cracks, including on the lips of Gunung Gede's friends. They were proven to have violated the rules on the prohibition of climbing issued for the safety of climbers.

The climbers who violated the climbing rules have received direct guidance from the Head of the TNGGP Center, Sapto Aji Prabowo, and the Head of PTN Cianjur Region, Diah Ourani.

Previously, nine climbers from Jakarta who were reported missing while climbing Mount Gede-Pangrango via the Ciputri Cianjur route were found safe by the joint SAR team. All of them have been evacuated.

The climbers consisted of five women and four men reported missing contact after two days of climbing since Monday, January 23.

The search was carried out by the Bandung Basarnas, which dispatched two rescue teams on Wednesday, January 25. The nine climbers were finally found.

They are known to be constrained by getting off Mount Gede-Pangrango. From the climber, one had a sprained leg and two other hypofermics.

"A climber sprained his leg and two people were hypothemic, so they were forced to wait for their three friends to recover," said Head of the Bandung Jumaril Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas), Thursday, January 26.
