NTB Attorney General's Office Employee With The Initials EP Has Become A Suspect In A Corruption Case, An Investigation Based On A Citizen's Report

NTB - An employee of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) with the initials EP has been named a suspect in a case of alleged corruption related to abuse of authority.

The EP involved in the alleged corruption case was known through a notification letter for the investigation of the corruption case from the Head of the NTB Attorney General's Office, Sungarpin, to the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) with Number: B-183/N.2/Fd.1/01/2023, dated January 18, 2023.

However, the spokesperson for the NTB Prosecutor's Office, Efrien Saputera, admitted that he did not know about the issuance of the notification letter.

"Regarding that, there is no information from the technical field to the Penkum (legal information)," said Efrien in Mataram, NTB, Wednesday, January 25, as reported by Antara.

The prosecutor who served in the field of special crimes also said that Efrien had never conveyed information regarding the development of a case involving EP.

"Usually there is a report to me. However, until now we have not received it," he said.

The investigation into the corruption case with the EP suspect was revealed from reports from the public who were victims of fraud.

In the report, EP allegedly promised the victim a pass in the National Civil Apparatus Candidate test (CASN) at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Representative NTB. EP promised this if the victim handed over Rp100 million.

The victim, who felt confident in the suspect's promise, handed over money in two stages. First, Rp. 40 million and finally Rp. 60 million. The handover of money from the victim to the suspect was marked by evidence of a Rp. 6,000 joint receipt.

Other evidence in the victim's report was also attached in the form of photo documentation when handing over money at one of the official residences in the NTB Prosecutor's Office.

The victim also took this case to the legal process, because the EP did not keep his promise until it was stated that the victim did not pass the CASN test.
