Australian Caucasians Reportedly Robbed Until Persecuted In Bali Turns Out To Be A Traffic Accident

DENPASAR - The Bali Regional Police sent a team to investigate foreign media reports regarding the robbery and abuse of an Australian citizen, Lachlan Briam Hunt. It turned out that the Caucasian from Perth was called by the police, allegedly having had a traffic accident, not being robbed and abused.

Initially, this Australian foreigner admitted that he was abused and robbed on January 12 before dawn in Kuta, Badung Bali. The victim was treated at the BIMC Kuta Hospital.

"The Bali Police has dispatched a team to investigate and find facts, starting from evidence and witnesses on the ground about what the foreigner actually experienced and (the news) is not true," said Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, Tuesday, January 24th.

From the results of the investigation by the Bali Police by asking for witness statements, the Australian foreigner Lachlan Briam Hunt was suspected of having been in a traffic accident.

"That the person concerned is suspected of having had a single traffic accident because at that time the person concerned was driving in a state of heavy drunkenness," he added.

One of the witnesses at the scene explained that this foreigner was driving a motorcycle at high speed while in a state of extreme intoxication. When passing speed bumps, the motorbike he was driving swerved until finally this foreigner fell.

"Then around 04.30 WITA, the foreigner woke up with a face full of blood and then immediately left," added Satake explaining the witness' statement.

Meanwhile, from the results of interrogation of Lachlan Briam Hunt, the victim admitted that before the incident occurred he had met his friend until the early hours of the morning.

However, on the way home, the foreigner felt that his cell phone had fallen. When trying to take his cell phone, this Caucasian felt pushed by an unknown person.

"Furthermore, the victim no longer remembers what happened, because the person concerned was heavily drunk. Lachlan Briant Hunt also admitted that he did not know who made him viral when he was robbed and abused," he said.

It was confirmed by the police that there was no robbery or persecution of the Australian Caucasians.

"We hope that the people of Bali and tourists will use social media wisely and not easily believe hoax news that can give a negative image of Bali.
