PAPUA - West Papua Province will add an extraordinary school (SLB) in South Manokwari Regency this year.

Head of the West Papua Education Office (Disdik) Barnabas Dowansiba said his party would use 50 teachers from Yogyakarta to meet the human resources (HR) of educators at the special school.

"We will school SLB teachers to Yogyakarta to be prepared specifically to meet the needs of teachers at the SLB which will be opened in South Manokwari," he said in Manokwari, Tuesday, January 24, as reported by Antara.

For the operation of the new SLB, Disdik will coordinate with the Panca Kasih SLB in Manokwari Regency which has already operated.

"We are waiting from the Panca Kasih SLB in Manokwari, for the initial operation whether it can be done this year or precisely next year. The most important thing is the human force," he said.

Apart from South Manokwari, the West Papua Provincial Government has also received proposals from Fakfak and Kaimana Regencies for the construction of SLB in their area.

"Fakfak and Kaimana Regencies, because they have prepared locations for development for children with special needs there," he said.

In West Papua, there is currently only one SLB in Manokwari Regency, while for areas that are far from the reach of these schools such as Kaimana, Fakfak, Wondama and Bintuni Regencies do not yet have SLB.

SLB is intended for students with special needs with a one-stop system for elementary, junior high, and high school which is adjusted to the age of students.
