The General Election Commission (KPU) of Palu City has asked all members of the Voting Committee (PPS) to prioritize integrity when carrying out the task of holding the 2024 Simultaneous Election stages.
"Facing the 2024 democratic party, of course, there are many complex problems. Therefore, the KPU as the organizer is ordered to form an adhoc body to help prepare instruments in the election," said Palu City KPU chairman Agus Salim after the inauguration and oath-taking of PPS in Palu, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi), Tuesday 24 January.
He explained, in accordance with the mandate of KPU Regulation Number 8 of 2022, PPS is tasked with holding elections at the village and sub-district levels as an extension of the hands of the organizing agency at the district and city levels.
Before carrying out his duties, he asked the adhoc body to strengthen its capacity through work orientation so that when carrying out tasks it is more directed and does not deviate from the PKPU corridor.
"Every member of PPS must uphold integrity because they are part of the KPU. As an independent institution, they must not side with certain pairs of candidates or parties and the tasks given must be carried out professionally," he said.
Work Procedure Order of Adhoc Agency
In accordance with the description of the work procedures of the adhoc body, Agus said that in the near future PPS was ordered to form a voter data updating committee (panderlih).
In that stage, PPS will announce a temporary voter list (DPS) as well as receive input and public responses regarding DPS for improvements.
"This stage is one of the important parts carried out, with the hope that during this process it can produce a quality voter list (DPT), because the DPT is closely related to the number of ballots sent to each region," he said.
The KPU emphasized that in every implementation of the stages of elections, professionalism and integrity are the main keys to producing dignified, democratic elections with general, free, secret, honest and fair principles.
