Floods Begin To Recede, Thousands Of Pidie Aceh Residents Still In Evacuation Shelters

BANDA ACEH - The floods which have hit 21 sub-districts in Pidie Regency, Aceh, since the last three days, have begun to recede. However, thousands of residents are still living in evacuation shelters because their houses are still submerged.

The Chief Executive of the Pidie Flood Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Muhammad Rabiul, said that as many as 2,165 flood victims from 595 heads of families (KK) from two sub-districts in Pidie were still living in evacuation sites because the houses they lived in were still submerged in overflow floods due to the intensity of the floods. high rain.

Previously, 3,696 residents of Pidie from 1,205 families were displaced, now it has decreased and the flood locations have become six points.

In Pidie District, three evacuation posts were opened, namely in Meunasah Dayah Tutong with 178 victims from 40 families, then 240 Keuniree residents who fled to SMA Negeri 2 Sigli as many as 50 families and fled to Dayah Tgk Chik Dianjong as many as 30 families.

Meanwhile, in Sigli City there are several evacuation posts including the Blang Asan Meunasah and the Regional Government Mess as many as 1,747 flood victims are still surviving in evacuation because they are trapped in roads and houses are still surrounded by floods.

Rabiul explained that in Meunasah Gampong Asan there were 1,200 flood victims who were still displaced, in Meunasah Lampoh Krueng and Gampong study centers there were 525 people, and in Beuringin Lambusoe and Tanjung Harapan as many as 894 flood victims had not been able to return home.

According to him, the floods in Pidie Regency are starting to recede, it's just that there are several locations that are still flooded on roads and residents' houses, such as in Cot Tengoh, Keunire, Cot Reng, Blang Asan, Gampong Asan, and Tibang.

All victims have been evacuated since the water inundated the area, assisted by a team from the TNI/Polri, BPBD, and others who were at the flood location to evacuate.

In addition, there are several points that are threatened with landslides due to the collapse of river cliffs, including in Gampong Baro Pulo Pisang, Klibeut, Ara Bungkok on Delima-Mila road, on Kembang Tanjong Street and Neulop Semen Teupin Raya.

As for the cliff that collapsed due to the swift flow of the river in Gampong Baro, Pidie District, it has been cleaned using heavy excavators, and all the bamboo clumps that fell into the river have been removed.

"Regarding damaged buildings, so far we have not received a report from the sub-district head, maybe it is in the data collection stage," said Rabiul.
