Head Of BP2MI: President Jokowi Instructions Protect PMI From The Rambut To The Feet

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) guarantees protection for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) who officially go abroad.

"President Jokowi instructed to protect PMI from head to toe. The President also requested that defense of PMI be realized through services and facilities," said Head of BP2MI Benny Rhamdani when delivering a briefing to PMI candidates at the Semarang State University Auditorium (Unnes), Sunday, January 22, quoted by Antara.

In addition to guaranteeing protection for PMI, BP2MI also provides a number of facilities that are equivalent to state officials.

One of them is by providing a state trust letter which was previously only given to the ambassador.

"We provide other facilities, including special PMI lobbying at several airports, to special lanes during immigration checks. This facility is a form of state concern and our appreciation to foreign exchange heroes," he said.

In this activity, around 17,000 PMI candidates participated in the stage of verifying registration documents and would later be officially dispatched to South Korea in the G to G South Korea Manufacturing and Fisheries Sector Program.

Benny said that the number of applicants interested in working in the East Asian state was the largest compared to the previous year because this year PMI candidates in South Korea reached 35 thousand registrants.

"Of the number of registrants, the most are in Central Java, which reaches around 17 thousand. They will be selected according to the quota given, which is 12 thousand to 18 thousand, specifically in South Korea," he said.

The total quota is also the largest compared to the previous year which ranged from four to seven thousand quotas.

Apart from South Korea, BP2MI also facilitates people who will work in Poland, Japan, and a number of other countries.

"Starting from our leadership, document verification can be carried out in each province, and is no longer concentrated in certain cities on the island of Java. This policy is fairer to facilitate PMI candidates from outside Java," he said.
