JAKARTA - The Buru Sergap Team of the Tulungagung Police, East Java, shot a young woman in the area who had been on the run for almost a month.

"Our members were forced to shoot in the leg because the perpetrator had tried to escape when they were about to be arrested," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tulungagung Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Agung Kurnia Putra in Tulungagung, Friday, January 20.

The perpetrator of the murder with the initials Mus (26) was arrested at a collection site where he was hiding in Blitar Regency a few days ago.

The perpetrator had previously fled to the Malang area on foot while looking for used goods to sell to survive during the escape.

After a while, the perpetrator who had no destination in Malang finally returned to Blitar.

Mus's arrival at work at a garbage collection site was caught by the police who immediately carried out an arrest operation.

"It turns out that this perpetrator is hiding in a garbage collection site in Blitar," he explained.

In front of the investigating officer, Mustakim, who was thin, admitted that he was hurt by the victim. However, Agung said the perpetrator was suspected of molesting the victim before killing him.

"Confessing to be hurt because the victim admitted that she was pregnant as a result of her relationship with another man," said Agung.

Before killing, the victim and perpetrator who still had a romantic relationship were known to have played to the beach together.

At this tourist spot, the perpetrator admitted that he had time to drink alcohol with the victim until he was drunk.

Upon his return from traveling, there was a dispute. The perpetrator, who was under the influence of alcohol, then went home to take a machete.

He then returned to AF's house and the murder took place on December 19, 2022. After finishing off the victim, the perpetrator threw a machete into the river in front of the victim's house.

"From the suspect's confession, there was obscenity, but we are still waiting for evidence of the victim's genital irrigation channel visa," said Agung.

The perpetrator also took AF's cellphone with the aim of knowing the victim's chat with another man. Because they could not unlock the victim's cellphone, the perpetrator then threw the cellphone into the river.

"I love the victim, but only friends," he said.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code regarding premeditated murder and threatened the death penalty.
