Defendant Of Embezzlement Rp 106 Trillion Indosurya June Indria Freely Sentenced, Mahfud MD Asked The Banding Prosecutor's Office

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD urged the Attorney General's Office to appeal the acquittal of defendants in cases of alleged fraud and embezzlement of funds of Rp106 trillion KSP Indosurya June Indria.

"We have to respect the judges' considerations and of course there is still an appeal, cassation, and so on. I will encourage the Attorney General's Office to appeal," Mahfud told reporters at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 20.

Mahfud made this statement in response to the decision of the West Jakarta District Court judges who acquitted the defendant in the alleged fraud and embezzlement of KSP Indosurya funds June Indria.

The panel of judges stated that the defendant June Indria was not proven guilty as the indictment from the public prosecutor (JPU).

"Administrative officers are also punished as an participation, yes, in a crime, but this is up to the judge," he said.

Regarding Henry Surya as the main actor in this case, Mahfud hopes that the panel of judges can provide justice for people whose wealth was confiscated up to around Rp. 106 trillion.

"According to the indictment submitted by the Attorney General's Office, it is a heinous crime against people who have small capital entrusted to the Indosurya Cooperative. It turns out that Rp 106 trillion was spent money, stolen, misused," said Mahfud.

Mahfud believes that the panel of judges has a sense of humanity and conscience to uphold justice and goodness for the public and state.

The defendant June Indria is the head of administration at the Indosurya Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSP), while Henry Surya is the Chair of KSP Indosurya.

Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes at the Attorney General's Office, Fadil Zumhana, said the total loss in this case reached Rp106 trillion with a total of around 23,000 victims.
