The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that the former Regent of Langkat Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin has received gratuities from a number of palm oil entrepreneurs. This allegation was investigated by two witnesses, one of whom was the President Director of PT Sinar Sawit Perkasa, Lina.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said Lina was questioned on Thursday, January 19 yesterday. From that examination, investigators investigated the receipt of money allegedly made by Terbit from businessmen.

"The witness was present and his knowledge was investigated, among others, related to the alleged flow of money receipts as gratuities by the TRP suspect from several entrepreneurs who manage oil palm plantations," Ali told reporters, Friday, January 20.

Apart from Lina, investigators also investigated the receipt of the gratuity from a staff of North Sumatra Bank (North Sumatra) named Laila Subank.

Actually, the KPK will examine another witness, namely a private person named Arie Bowo Leksono. However, he was not present and will be rescheduled.

The Regent of Langkat, who was not active in the issuance of the Warring Angin Plan, was sentenced to nine years in prison by the Jakarta Corruption Court last October 19. He was proven to have accepted bribes related to project work in Langkat Regency.

The judge also sentenced him to an additional five years in the form of revocation of political rights. He will not be able to occupy public office after being released from prison.

Apart from Terbit, the judge also sentenced the Village Head of Balai Kasih Iskandar Warin Angin to seven years and six months in prison. Both are believed to have jointly committed corrupt practices.

"And a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to five months in prison," said Djumayanto.

The thing that burdens Terbit and Iskandar is that they are against the government's efforts to eradicate corruption, collusion and nepotism. In addition, the panel of judges considered them complicated in the trial.
