The Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office (Kapuspenkum Kejagung) Ketut Sumedana emphasized that the most important thing in implementing restorative justice is the existence of peace efforts from both parties. "The most important thing for implementing restorative justice is that there are peace efforts from both parties and victims or their families to apologize to the perpetrators of criminal acts," said Ketut Sumedana when confirmed by ANTARA from Jakarta, Wednesday, January 18. This statement is the response of the Attorney General's Office regarding the news of various media regarding the practice of buying and selling restorative justice and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) which alludes to rape cases at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop UKM). "The cases of rape or sexual harassment include sexual exploitation, not included in the category of cases that can be stopped based on restorative justice," said Ketut Sumedana. In addition, he said, rape cases caused prolonged trauma to victims and had a broad impact on the community. "Therefore, we hope that if the community finds disciplinary actions, unprofessionalism, abuse of authority, and disgraceful actions that can injure the sense of justice and interfere with various community activities, please report it to the leadership of the Prosecutor's Office," said Ketut Sumedana. He said that the Attorney General's Office would take action and not hesitate to criminalize the perpetrators if the reports regarding disciplinary actions, unprofessionalism, abuse of authority, and other despicable actions proved to contain the truth. "Because of the humanist law enforcement that we show the public should not be misused," said Ketut Sumedana. The application of restorative justice has received international recognition and appreciation. The impact of implementing restorative justice is to reduce resistance in the community, provide a deterrent effect as a social sanction in society, and can reduce high costs in law enforcement.
