PAPUA - The Nabire Resort Police are still investigating the fire that occurred at Satya Wiyata Mandala University (USWIM), Nabire Regency, Monday, January 16 evening Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said the fire that occurred at around 23.15 WIT resulted in the USWIM Nabire Faculty building which totaled 13 rooms being burned to the ground. From the reports received, witnesses Lukas Wery and Zeth Wery admitted that they saw the fire coming from a photocopy site which then spread to another room. The witness reported the fire to USWIM treasurer, Petrus Mangambe, to contact the fire department because the fire was getting bigger. The fire was extinguished only early Wednesday morning at around 01.30 WIT after the Nabire Police's water canon was deployed. The fire quickly spread and scorched the entire building of the Faculty of FISIP USWIM Nabire because it was made semi-permanent. "The fire quickly scorched the building because it was made of wood so it was flammable," said Benny in Jayapura, Antara, Tuesday, January 176.
