KALTIM - The number of poor people in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) based on data collection from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in September 2022 rose to 242,300 people. There was an increase of 9,170 people compared to the same month the previous year. "The percentage of poor people in September 2022 was 6.44 percent, up 0.13 percent compared to March 2022 and an increase of 0.17 percent compared to September 2021," said the Junior Expert Statistician and Head of the East Kalimantan BPS Social Statistics Team Emmy Maksum in Samarinda, Antara, Monday, January 16. The percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2022 was 4.97 percent, up from 4.80 percent in March 2022, while the percentage of poor people in rural areas in September 2022 was 9.71 percent, up from March 2022 which was 9.64 percent. When compared to March 2022, the number of poor people in urban areas in September 2022 increased by 5,390 people, from 123,590 people in March 2022 to 128,980 people in September 2022. Meanwhile, in the same period, the number of poor people in rural areas increased by 660 people, from 112,660 people in March 2022 to 113,320 people in September 2022. The increase in the number of poor people was partly due to an increase in the value of the poverty line, while family income did not increase, namely the poverty line in September 2021 was Rp. 703,223 per capita per month, while in September 2022 it was Rp. 768,120 per capita per month. "The poverty rate in September 2022 is IDR 768,120 per capita per month, with a composition of the food poverty line of IDR 546,669 or 71.17 percent, then the non-food poverty line of IDR 221,451 or 28.83 percent," he said. Meanwhile, in detail, the change in the poverty line in September 2021 to September 2022 is a total increase of 9.23 percent, consisting of an increase in food poverty line of 10.26 percent and a non-food poverty line of 6.76 percent. Meanwhile, the change in the poverty line in March 2022 to September 2022 increased by 5.48 percent, consisting of an increase in the food poverty line of 6.38 percent and the non-food poverty line rose 3.32 percent. In September 2022, he said, on average, poor households in East Kalimantan Province have 4.6 family members, so the average poverty line per poor household is IDR 3,571,758 per poor household per month.
