Meeting 1 Hour, The Vice President Calls Singapore President Supports Indonesia To Make Southeast Asia The World Economic Center

JAKARTA - The Singapore government supports Indonesia's Chairmanship of the ASEAN Summit in 2023. Including Indonesia's efforts to make Southeast Asia the center of the world economy in the future.

This was conveyed by the Vice President (Wpres) Maruf Amin after visiting the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob, at the Presidential Palace in Singapore, Monday, January 16.

"Singapore supports Indonesia, which serves as the Chair of ASEAN and will support efforts in order to make Southeast Asia the center of the economy and become a kind of center of world economic power," said the Vice President in a press release, Monday, January 16 evening, confiscated by Antara.

The Vice President conveyed that in addition to carrying out a mission to make Southeast Asia an economic center, Indonesia will specifically strive to become the center of the largest halal producer in the world.

For this reason, he said, as a country that has been in bilateral relations with Indonesia for a long time, the Vice President hopes that Singapore can support this mission through investments in the sharia sector.

"I want to build, saying that Indonesia will build cooperation with Singapore. And I hope that Singapore will take a role in investing in Indonesian halal products," said the Vice President.

Responding to this, said the Vice President, President Halimah Yacob expressed his enthusiasm for cooperation in this field. President Halimah, said the Vice President, assessed that cooperation in the field of sharia has great potential in the global world.

Singapore is very responsive (good) and invites that indeed the problem of halal products is not only at the ASEAN level, but does have a large market at the global level. Therefore, he is very responsive and wants to cooperate in the field (halal / sharia)," he explained.

The vice president emphasized that in the meeting which lasted for approximately 60 minutes or 1 hour, the two leaders were both committed to further strengthening good relations between countries in all fields.

"At the meeting I said that Singapore is an important partner for Indonesia and I said that Singapore and Indonesia have built good cooperation so far. And this strengthens Indonesia-Singapore cooperation so that it is even closer," he explained.

Present at the occasion were Singapore President Halimah Yacob, Principal Private Secretary to the President Lee May Gee, Press Secretary to the President Bey Mui Leng, Deputy Director (Indonesia) Minister of Foreign Affairs Terrence Teo, and Country Officer (Indonesia) Minister of Foreign Affairs Yeo Jong Han.

Meanwhile, the Vice President was accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo, the Head of the Vice Presidential Secretariat Ahmad Erani Yustika, the Special Staff of the Vice President Masduki Baidlowi, and the Director of Southeast Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mirza Nurhidayat.
