REJANG LEBONG - Rejang Lebong Police, Bengkulu managed to arrest two suspects in the theft of a chromebook from a computer laboratory at SMP Negeri 16 in Sindang Kelingi District. Sindang Kelingi Police Chief Iptu Helnita said the case of the theft of a chromebook was experienced by SMP Negeri 16 Rejang Lebong in Sindang Jati Village, Session Kelingi District, on January 8, 2023. "The two perpetrators are RA, 30 years old, a resident of Pelalo Village, Sindang Kelingi District. Then EW, 28 years old, a resident of Belitar Muka Village, Sindang Kelingi District. Both were arrested at their respective residences on Friday, January 13, 2023, at around 11.00 WIB," he said during a press conference at the Rejang Lebong Police Headquarters, Antara, Monday, January 16. He explained that the two suspects were arrested after the school reported the theft of 12 Acer chromebook brand units which read the 2020 Dikdasmen Middle School Directorate project at SMPN 16 Rejang Lebong and other items stored in the school's administrative space (TU) such as grass cutting machines, spray tanks, electric stoves and others. Before carrying out the action, the two perpetrators at around 10.30 WIB first monitored the situation at SMPN 16 Rejang Lebong. After feeling safe, the suspect RA took action by breaking the key to the TU room with the scissors he had prepared. After successfully entering the TU room, suspect EW alias H immediately put 12 chromebooks into two sacks, and then immediately took one sack away from the location. Meanwhile, they left another sack and picked it up at night and stored it in an empty house behind suspect EW's house. The arrest of the two perpetrators of the theft of learning support equipment at SMPN 16 Rejang Lebong was after Sindang Kelingi Police officers conducted an investigation, in which one of the perpetrators intended to sell the stolen grass machine. "For his actions, the perpetrator RA, who is a recidivist in the theft and perpetrator of EW, was included in the Kepahiang Police DPO," said Iptu Helnita, charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of up to 7 years in prison. Meanwhile, the Head of SMP Negeri 16 Rejang Lebong, Irwan Syarif Harahap, on that occasion thanked the Rejang Lebong Police and his staff for successfully arresting the perpetrators of the theft at their school.
